Sarah Hendy
Like Thieves Newly Loosed in that Dark Electric
Sarah Hendy's practice of painting from photographic stock explores the sense of strangeness inherent to the visual documentation of social mores, with an eye for the sense of menace that often animates the representation of the apparently mundane. Despite the obscurity of their source, we feel that we recognise these images, and it is impossible not to impose narratives upon the paintings, they beg to be understood and given a history.
